TCF French residency
Audience : any foreigner applying for the first time for a long-term resident card (valid for 10 years) or a card marked "long-term resident - EU".
The TCF for the French residence card will comply with the new conditions introduced by the French Ministry of the Interior (Decree No 2016-1456 of 28 October 2016 and Order of 21 February 2018) setting Level A2 (oral and written comprehension and expression tests) as the level required in French for applicants for the long-term residence card.
The French authorities shall also recognise the following certificates and diplomas at least at A2 level :
• TCF for the general public (TCF TP) including the written and oral expression tests ;
• TCF for Quebec (including the oral comprehension, written comprehension, oral expression and written expression tests) ;
• DELF A2, B1, B2 or DALF C1, C2 (all versions).
Format of the new TCF resident card: 4 compulsory tests
